The HADAAF meeting in March was held at the Friends Meeting House in Harrogate on Wednesday 4th, and was attended by 9 members. Much of the discussion focussed on formulation of the group’s constitution, but it was eventually agreed that Group Secretary John Plummer will draft a minimalist Terms of Reference instead to make matters simpler.
Group Chairman Bill Rigby has recently spoken at meetings of two other local groups with whom we’d like to forge links: the Harrogate U3A and the Nidderdale Climate and Environment Group. He reported both groups to be receptive and positive. Bill and John will be meeting with the Harrogate and District Biodiversity Group on March 15th in the expectation that we can work with them for common aims.
The next meeting will be at the Friends Meeting House on Queen Parade, Harrogate at 7pm on Thursday April 7th. We hope that some more people will attend and that we will be able to get moving on organising more events and publicising the very real threat that fracking poses to our local area. Both the chairman Bill Rigby and the publicity officer Elizabeth Barclay are stepping down so we will have to find other people to fill these vital roles. Huge thanks are due to Bill and Elizabeth for the sterling work they have done in getting the group established. Bill is to become Mayor of Knaresborough in April.
